Though only an hour's drive from the city, Somers' wide open spaces, valleys, parks and lakes contribute to a sense of its being in a completely different world.

The Commute

On Metro North, it takes 65 minutes to get to Grand Central on the Metro North Harlem line.

The Legacy

Somers' iconic Elephant Hotel -- to which local farmer Hachaliah Bailey brought an African elephant in the early 1820's -- is the original founding place of the Barnum & Bailey Circus, lending Somers the name, "The Cradle of the American Circus"

The Lifestyle

The town prides itself on community initiatives such as the Somers Education Foundation, which actively promotes awareness and support for Somers schools.
